Additional free extra touches included wine/snacks 5pm each day, fresh made cookies, hot/cold drinks when required plus jar jelly beans & decanter of brandy in room. The hosts were exceptional and the breakfasts spectacular. Guests were encouraged to chat and get to know each other. We met very interesting fellow guests. The Hotel was a wonder of antiques with an Alice in Wonderland theme.
The owners, John and Dawn, were really welcoming and helpful throughout our 3 night stay. Location was great, 10 minute walk from Cannery Row. John and Dawn very informative about local restaurants and attractions, helped in booking whale watching trip (with discount). Will definitely stay again next time we go to Monterey.
The relaxed and welcoming environment with an opportunity to meet and share experiences with fellow travellers and excellent hosts.
The in room jacuzzi bathtub was the highlight. Very clean rooms and the in room brandy was a nice touch.
It was a bit dull
The staff were excellent at hosting their guests. The furnishings are slightly eccentric but memorable
John and Dawn are wonderful hosts and the inn is a delight. Great food, very comfortable beds, and charmingly decorated for Christmas. You can walk to Cannery Row and the Aquarium from the Jabberwock, and excellent restaurants are close at hand.
The Jabberwock was just wonderful. While I knew it should be good after reading the reviews, I never thought everything will work so well. From the warm hospitality the Alice in Wonderland puzzles and the amazing ocean view, this place is just the best for the price. Will definitely return
Just returned from a 3 week trip to the usa staying at 9 different accommodations varying from bed and breakfasts to luxury hotelsAll were very good.but by far the most welcoming was john and dawn at the jabberwock, they also went the extra mile by providing nibbles in the early evening (homemade) and wine which was plentiful. They also provide a fridge with free bottled water and soft drinks.Excellent breakfasts our hosts were always on hand to provide information and recommendations Great location 5 mins walk to the bay
Nice room in a great location. Walking distance to restaurants & Cannery Lane.
Dawn and John were really lovely and happy to help with anything. The breakfasts are delicious.
We liked everything! John and Dawn, the owners , were fantastic! The place is beautiful and everything was just perfect.:-)
Great atmosphere and wonderful gourmet breakfasts
I had no dislikes
Great room, lovely and comfortable home. Gracious hosts, and the location is perfect.
Very thin walls and doors. Little to no sound insulation.
This is an older, large house with a very quirky, but romantic design and feel. The bed was very comfortable and the hosts go out of their way to provide cookies, hors d'oeuvres, brandy, limoncello, and a nice breakfast.
The bathroom had old plumbing fixtures that were unusual and took a bit of coaxing.
It was the excellent breakfasts, and sat around a table the chance to talk to other guests. In the evening milk and cookies were put out, this was appreciated. When I complained the hairdryer was ineffectual a new one was provided.
Our room was much smalller than the photo suggested. A large armchair and large old dressing table could be replaced with something smaller giving more floor space. There was barely room to open the suitcases, no wardrobe only hooks on the wall, even these were not very steadfast. The private bathroom was down the hall and needed a yale key. Not so good at 2am. The dressing gowns were appreciated
